From Sand and Ash, by Amy Harmon
The bar was set high from the moment I read the prologue and yet this book never once failed to deliver.
I’ve always been fascinated by World War II, hence one of my current works in progress, Heart of War.
Intrigued by the acts of heroism, kindness and self sacrifice by everyday people during a truly harrowing time. While so many may have given up all hope, there were those who instead chose to put themselves in danger helping in any way possible.
Amy told this story beautifully, it was intricately woven into a real time line which only made this piece of fiction even more bittersweet, raw and emotional. There aren’t many books that have the power to give me goosebumps but this was most definitely one of them.
I can’t recommend this book enough, now one of my firm favourites on my bookshelf.
