While my laptop is on charge I snuck off to my PC, don’t ask. Anyway, I wanted to take a moment to talk about authors, both traditional and indie and the importance of supporting and sharing the book love.
Someone on my friend’s list recently shared a post by the author K.A Tucker. It highlighted ways to support an author and gave me an idea for this blog, and the importance of supporting all authors.
Now as new and upcoming authors and well-established authors will tell you, it’s no easy feat to be seen, or to spread the word of a great book, even with multiple followers, avid readers and bloggers, it’s still a struggle.
And believe it or not, for all authors the best way you can support them not only by reading and buying their books is by taking a moment to rate and review their work. It doesn’t have to be a masterpiece the review can be as little as three or four words to a couple of sentences whichever you feel most comfortable with.
But it’s readers like you and me that can make a difference. You have a voice and your support truly is priceless. And yes, I will always be a reader.
If you can do one of these things then you’re already making a difference.
I’ve been following some authors for years, and regardless of their following they still need the readers to support them, both new and old.
Don’t be afraid to take a risk with a new to you author or a debut author, try a different genre, step out of your comfort zone every once in a while, it will do you good, I promise. Why not try a fantasy or dystopian novel, a romantic comedy, a suspense or thriller, you’ll be surprised what gems you’ll find.
I’ve read books that I’ve liked but I know others who will love, book recommendations are my favourite when I read a new book or find a new author, I love going in blind.
Some authors I’ve heard of but it took me a while to read their work, but I’m so glad I did because now they are up there with my favourite reads to date.
There is a whole book community out there uniting people, book bloggers who share what they’re currently reading, give them a follow and alike, join them on their reading journeys.
If your to be read list is as out of control as mine then I can relate, but I’ve consciously been trying to read one new book for every old book, as well as mixing up the genre.
I want to drop some links for bloggers and authors, who knows you might find some new books—if you’re a true bibliophile like me you’ll enjoy the hunt. Don’t be afraid to share what you’ve recently read, whether it is on Goodreads, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram it doesn’t matter the platform, or even if someone doesn’t agree with a book you loved.
There is something out there for everyone and the moral of this blog is that Sharing really is caring.
Below are a few bloggers and authors—you might just find yourself a new favourite or even a unicorn. I wish there was a way for me to link more as there are so many out there. Why not join an online book group. It’s a great way to share all things books. Also a lot of authors have reader groups specifically for their books don’t be afraid to check them out too. Oh and Podcasts if you listen to them or even if you don’t check out Willow Aster’s Living in the pages.
